Andy Serkis to direct Venom 2.

Reknowned actor, singer and director Andy Serkis is now all set to direct the sequel to 2018’s smash hit movie for Sony, Venom!

Serkis who is best known for his motion capture work and his amazing portrayal of Gollum in Peter Jackson’s epic Lord of the Rings franchise, signed on to direct the as yet untitled sequel to Venom, which will once again feature Tom Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock, a journalist who after a chance encounter with an alien symbiote his it bonded to him and becomes the anti-hero of the title.

At the very end of the first movie in the post credit scene we see Brock approaching San Quentin prison to interview someone.  The guy who he is set to interview has smeared ‘Welcome Eddie’ in his own blood on the wall of his cell and says simply that “Theres going to be carnage!”  This is of course a reference to the character Carnage in the comics who is formed from the symbiote bonding with an insane criminal Cletus Kassidy who then goes on to be one of both Venom and Spider-Mans deadliest foes.

Woody Harrelson made the brief cameo as Kassidy in the movie and will most likely reprise the role in the sequel.

Andy Serkis is no stranger to Marvel having appeared in Avengers Age of Ultron as bad guy arms dealer, smuggler and low life Uyless Klaw and reprising the role for 2018s Black Panther.

More news as we get it.
