Disney’s exclusive members club D23 has its bi-annual meeting this weekend and there are some pretty big announcements and trailers that are going to drop, from upcoming Disney and PIxar projects and the return of old favourties too.
Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker dropped its last trailer in April this year, which seems like decades ago, and likewise the only bits of information we have seen about Jon Favreau’s upcoming Star Wars show The Mandalorian set in the Star Wars Universe post Return of the Jedi has been very thin on the ground.
Now the series has had a few announcements over at D23, a new poster and a brand new trailer that shows off how dark and gritty the show is expected to be.
A very dark and wild west feel to the trailer and the appearance of a few old favourites from Star Wars Lore such as bounty hunter IG-88 model droid IG-11 who is voiced by director and actor Taika Waititi who looks awesome.
It’s was announced that Ming-Na Wen, the Asian actress who plays Agent May in the Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will appear in the Star Wars spin off, helmed by Iron Man and Lion King director Jon Favreau. The lead of the show Pedro Pascal is no stranger to Star Wars, having been the male lead in Star Wars: Rogue One.
The show will launch on November 12th and will be a part of the Disney + streaming services. As of yet there are no details of when the service will launch outside of America and Canada.
